Hardware Repair

The UNH IT Computer Repair Services (CRS) is authorized to perform warranty work on all Apple and Dell computers for UNH students, faculty, and staff. 

 
Hardware warranty repairs, including labor and parts, for computers purchased through the UNH Computer Store are fully covered under a valid warranty.  
 
For Dell computers not purchased at the UNH Computer Store, CRS is able to order hardware under warranty. Standard CRS labor fees for installation apply on models other than Optiplex and Latitude.
 
Reminder: UNH Setup, including operating system and additional software installations, are not typically covered under warranty. Inquire at the CRS desk in the MUB for more information.

Software Repairs and Upgrades

Is your PC or Mac running poorly, in need of a tune up or software upgrade? We can help! Over time the performance of your computer can degrade as the operating system becomes bogged down with Malware, viruses and other nuisance software, which affects productivity; let us help.

Data Backups & Recovery

Your computer data is valuable. Relying exclusively on your hard drive to keep your data secured is risky. Accidents happen. If at all possible, please backup your data before bringing your computer in for service. We are not responsible for data loss as a result of a repair, but we do realize that your data is very important and offer fee-based backup and data recovery services.

Data Backups- If your hardware is mechanically sound we can back up your data to an external device or burn it to disk. The cost for this is $33.50 for anything up to 10GB and an additional $33.50 for anything over 10GB.

Data Recovery - We also offer limited data recovery on computers that may have hardware problems. The cost for this depends on the amount of time it takes to retrieve the data, but is typically $33.00. NOTE: Data is not always recoverable and we are not responsible for any lost data.

External Hard drives - These are available in various sizes and storage capacities. It's a second hard drive that can be connected to your computer. They are good for storing large amounts of data like pictures, movies, or music. The Computer Store on campus carries an assortment of external drives.

Hardware Upgrades

Extend the life of your PC or Mac by adding additional memory or by installing a bigger hard drive.

Out of Warranty Service

In addition to performing authorized warranty service on Apple and Dell computers, Computer Repair Services also offers out of warranty service on those brands and other computer brands for a fee.

Note: While we are able to provide full software services for brands other than Apple or Dell that are still covered by warranty, we strongly suggest you return those computers to the original retailer or contact the manufacturer directly for any mechanically related problems. If you are unsure, you may check with us and we will recommend the best course of action.

An Out of Warranty Diagnostic fee of $50.00 is required at the time of drop off on all systems not covered by active Apple or Dell Warranties for any hardware related issues including spills. This does not apply to software related issues like spyware/malware or viruses.

Dell Rapid Response Warranties – Unfortunately at this time, Computer Repair Services does not perform hardware repairs on Dell computers covered by Rapid Response. If you have a Rapid Response warranty from Dell, please contact Dell directly for service. If you are unsure you may check with us and we will recommend the proper course of action.
