Bringing Your Computer In for Service
At certain times of the year, especially Back-to-School in the Fall, demand for our services is very high and wait times can get lengthy. To ensure the fastest possible service, please consider the following actions:
- Backup all critical files. This includes course work, pictures, or music files that you own. We offer fee-based backup and data recovery services, but backing up your essential files ahead of time can cut down on repair turn around times.
- Bring your original purchase receipt. It should contain much needed proof of purchase for software licenses.
- Bring in the disks for any software that may need to be reloaded.
- Bring your power adapter & battery.
- If you are experiencing problems with computer external components, such as the AC Adapter or a USB device, bring in the computer as well as the component (we need the computer to test the component). This applies to PCMCIA cards, PC cards, any external cables required to operate the attached or connected components, memory modules, CD ROM drives, DVD drives, batteries, and external hard drives.
- Leave anything not associated with the problem behind. Items such as CD ROM disks, extra cables, and/or notes or notebooks are not needed to diagnose and repair your machine.
- Please remove any diskettes, CD's, thumb drives, and/or tapes not related to the problem from your computer before you bring it in for service.
- For desktop computers, bring only the computer and its power cord. Monitors, keyboards, and mice are not needed unless you have discussed your situation with a technician and they requested these items.
